Decoration Ideas

• Bubbles are a great way to set the mood. In addition to hanging fish from the ceiling and having ocean sounds playing in the background, a bubble machine will help your little fish to feel like they’ve walked in to the underwater world with Ariel. You might also exchange your regular light bulbs for blue ones to achieve a sea-blue lighted atmosphere.
• String blue and green Christmas lights around the room, along with Ariel streamers, balloons, and even Ariel cut-outs hung from the ceiling. Also, have the table decorated with Ariel-oriented tableware, plates, napkins, and a table cloth. Alternately, find a "fish" table cloth for a little Ariel balance.
• Create a trellis with leis, ivy, Ariel balloons, and other "sea" items strung throughout it. Have the trellis at the front door so you can help each "mermaid" swim into the party easily. Make sure the room in which you are having the party has fish bowls everywhere with little dime-store gold fish, and if possible, color the water blue. (make sure the coloring will not harm the fish!)

Craft Ideas
2-6 Year Olds

• Have the kids create their own mermaid scene with Ariel and the whole gang. If possible, include a picture of each child and have them cut out their face to stick in place of Ariel (or in addition to).
• Ariel Shrinky Dinks!! Kids can color their own characters and create Shrinky Dinks to take home for memories long after the party had dried up!

6-10 Year Olds

• Purchase an Ariel Ice Pops Maker (found online at www.treasurekingdom.com), and have the kids make their own Ariel Ice Pops (to be eaten after they are frozen, of course!).
• Purchase bracelet or necklace making materials that include Ariel and her friends, and have your little fish create their own necklace or bracelet! Another fun memory for the kids to take home after Ariel has gone back to her kingdom in the sea!

Game Ideas2-6 Year Olds

• With parents’ permission, have a swim party! With a child’s pool, your little guests can have a great time pretending to be Ariel or one of her friends, acting out a scene from their favorite mermaid movie!
• Play pin the fin on the mermaid! Ariel will need her fins when she heads back to the ocean - the child closest to where Ariel’s fin goes, wins!!

6-10 Year Olds

• With parents’ permission, have a swim party! With a child’s pool, your little guests can have a great time pretending to be Ariel or one of her friends, acting out a scene from their favorite mermaid movie!
• Ariel look-alike contest! Have your guests come prepared to dress up like Ariel, complete with wigs, fins, child’s makeup (obtain parents’ permission first!), etc. Your guests will have a great time dressing up like Ariel, and will have even more fun looking to see how close each child is to looking like Ariel!

Food Ideas
Kids love food! With too many activities and crafts, it may be difficult to incorporate too much food, but here are a few easy food ideas to match with the theme of the party:

• Fish Sticks and Fries! Not that you want to "eat" any of Ariel’s friends, but this is a great way for the kids to have a quick treat and enjoy each other’s company.
• M&M party mix! To eat what mermaids eat, it might be good to make a party mix containing M&M’s, nuts, pretzels, raisins, and even little "Goldfish" crackers! (Also easy to clean up with a sweeper!)

Incorporating just a few of these ideas will ensure your little guests have a great time with Barbie!
