Decoration Ideas

  • Bright red and yellow balloons, Clifford balloons, red, black, yellow, and white streamers - as well as even a fun Clifford pinata can add to great decorations for your Clifford party.
  • Locate or create some bones, paw prints, red and yellow dog bowls with each child’s name on it, as well as more balloons and streamers in line with Clifford.
  • Decorate your tables with red plastic table cloths, dog tags with each child’s name imprinted on them, dog bowls for food, a big stuffed Clifford for the center of the table, and/or pick up some Clifford plates, napkins, tableware, and other Clifford-designed items to put on the table.

Craft Ideas2-6 Year Olds

  • Have each child draw a picture of Clifford using red, black, and white crayons on a white piece of construction paper. For extra creativity, purchase some "eyeballs" for the kids to glue on the Clifford! This will be fun for all kids, and will be an easy exercise for all kids to participate!
  • Using popsicle sticks and Elmer’s glue (or another child-safe glue), have the little ones "build" their own dog houses for Clifford! Have a "template" house available for them to use as a guide. Either paint the sticks red in advance, or have paint on hand for the kids to paint their own dog houses.

6-10 Year Olds

  • Make sure your Clifford piñata is filled with goodies - then let the kids have a whack at the piñata! It will be great fun for all kids, and will ensure that each child brings home some goodies from the party!
  • Buy some red tote bags, and with white cloth paint and Clifford stickers, have the kids decorate their own tote bags to take home. Another option is to have them decorate their own dog bowls - red, of course!

Game Ideas2-6 Year Olds

  • Pin the Tail on the Clifford! (It won’t hurt!) In advance, have a large picture of Clifford minus his tail hang on a wall. Cut out enough tails that each child has a chance to pin the tail on Clifford, and using double stick tape and a bandana - have each child enjoy pinning the tail on the Clifford!
  • Hire someone to make Clifford balloon animals! The kids will love to see the animals come to life, and will have a treasure to take home to remember their fun with Clifford!

6-10 Year Olds

  • Bobbing for Bones. Purchase a huge red tub, fill with water, and have the kids "bob for bones". The bones can be anything waterproof - plastic bones - apples - anything that a child can sink their teeth into.
  • Make a Clifford Cookie! Purchase a cake pan or a Clifford cookie cut out, and roll out sugar cookie dough. Have plenty of red-dyed white frosting, edible candy eyes, and even dog collars available. For quicker fun, bake the cookies in advance. Otherwise, the kids will have a great time cutting out their own "Cliffords" and decorating them before they enjoy!

Food Ideas

Kids love food! With too many activities and crafts, it may be difficult to incorporate too much food, but here is a fun, easy food idea to match with the theme of the party:

Puppy Chow - made with wheat, rice, and corn chex, along with sugar, chocolate, and powdered sugar, this yummy treat will even make Clifford behave! Easy to make and fun to eat, it looks like real puppy chow!

Incorporating just a few of these fun ideas will ensure your little guests have a fun time with Clifford!

Above all - have FUN and don't forget to take lots of photos.
