We've put together everything you'll need to throw a great dinosaur party
Here is a bunch of sensational dinosaur party ideas for you to use!
Invitations:
If you are feeling creative, dinosaur mouth invites are fun way to get the kids excited about coming to the party.
Get lots of green, red and white construction paper.
Fold the green construction paper in half hamburger style (for those of you that can’t remember back to elementary school this is where you fold it so that the shorter sides of the paper are brought together).
Fold the paper in half again and unfold it.
Cut along this line to make two invites.
Trim the bottom of the invite (the part that doesn’t have the fold) so that it is round into an oval. It should look like a snout.
Draw or glue large googly eyes to the front and draw on nostrils with a black marker.
Cut an oval shape out of red paper that will fit inside the card when it is opened.
Glue this inside.
Cut triangles out of white construction paper and glue them onto the red part to make the teeth.
Write the invitation to the party with a black marker inside the mouth

Decorations:
The easiest way to decorate any party is to buy a party pack. Check out this Kit-N-Kaboodle which comes in three different sizes.
This dinosaur entrance will set the atmosphere for an exciting prehistoric party.
You can bring the prehistoric era into your home or back yard for this party by making palm trees out of construction paper and putting them up on the walls or attaching them to trees. You can make a fog by getting dry ice (set it up where the kids can not reach it or have an adult in the area at all times so that the kids do not touch it). Hang dinosaur posters or pictures and make boxes look like rocks or if you are having the party outside you can roll big rocks to the party area. If you are having the party inside, find some silk ferns or other green leaves to put on the floor or wall to create the illusion of being in a jungle.
Make a cave over the treat table by getting gray, brown and black streamers. Attach them to the ceiling and let them fall down to the floor. Around or on the table you can have larger sized plastic dinosaurs, plants and rocks.
Get a 6' high Tyrannosaurus Rex cutout which is sure to be the life of your birthday party! Or how about an Inflatable Tyrannosaurus. Your little ones will love posing for photos with this 3' high T-Rex! Tie helium balloons to his claws and place outside your door to welcome the guests.
Decorate the table with these Dinosaur Centerpieces. The six centerpiece stand-up dinosaurs are made from lightweight cardboard and the sizes vary up to 14 inches by 11.4 inches. Make them flat after the party and tack them to the birthday childs bedroom wall to keep the fun going!
Go to this site where you can downoad designs for easy-to-make paper dinosaurs. Put each guest's name on his/her own dinosaur and use as place settings.
A lovely idea as a party activity is to get these Dinosaur 3-D Puzzles. The parts clip together to make realistic 3-dimensional models! Simply punch out the parts from the enclosed cards and build-up according to the instructions. Make one of each: Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Brachiosaurus and Stegosaurus. So cool! The model is 2-3/4 inches long by 1-1/2 inches high.
For this fun and tasty craft you will need colored marshmallows, large white marshmallows, toothpicks and edible ink markers (these can be found in the cake decorating section of a craft store). Tell the kids that they get to make their own dinosaurs. If you want to, you can show them how the tooth picks will go into the marshmallows and how the markers will write on the marshmallows. Give each child a handful of colored and large marshmallows along with some toothpicks and let the creating begin. If you want you can also have a judging where each of the kids dinosaurs gets a special title, like the meanest looking dinosaur or the most creative. Make paper ribbons or certificates ahead of the party and give them to the children as their dinosaurs are being judged.
Dinosaur Sock Puppet (6-10 year olds)
You can raid your family’s sock drawers or buy new socks for this activity. Provide the kids with googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and the colored foam cut into different shapes (have a lot of triangles). It is a good idea to make one before the party to show the kids so they know what they are going to be doing. Give them glue and let them make their dinosaur sock puppet. Provide a puppet theatre (a box with a hole cut in the middle) and encourage the kids to have a dinosaur puppet theatre.
Games:Follow the Footprints Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt (2-6 year olds)
Cut out dinosaur footprints and place them on the ground. They can lead anywhere you would like. Find some cheap kids binoculars and as you explain to the kids that they will be hunting for dinosaurs give them each a pair of binoculars. Tell them that dinosaur footprints have been found and that to find the dinosaurs they need to follow them. The kids will have fun walking on the footprints and using their binoculars. At the end of the hunt you can have an assortment of plastic dinosaurs that the kids can choose from.
What Dinosaur am I? (6-10 year olds)This game is similar to charades, except that the kids will be trying to get everyone else to guess what type of dinosaur they are. Put the names of commonly known dinosaurs in a bowl. Have the kids come up and draw a paper. If they can’t read help them know which dinosaur they are supposed to act out then let the laughter begin as the kids try to guess.
Food Ideas:
Make a food table filled with prehistoric treats like dinosaur bones, dinosaur eggs and archeological dig pudding.
Dinosaur bones are pretzels covered with white almond bark. They are easy to make and kids will love them. All you have to do is get stick pretzels and almond bark, melt the almond bark in a double boiler or the microwave, and dip the pretzels in the almond bark. Place them on wax paper to dry. When they have dried completely put them in a bowl.
Dinosaur eggs are jell-o jigglers in an egg shape. All you have to do is follow the directions on the package for making jigglers. Jell-o has a mold that you can get that makes eggs, or you can just use an egg shaped cookie cutter to cut out the eggs after the jell-o has solidified. To do this pour the jell-o onto a cookie sheet and put it in the fridge on a level surface. Once the jell-o has solidified you can make your eggs.
Archeological dig pudding is a treat the kids will love and can double as another activity. To make this pudding you will need Oreos, chocolate and vanilla pudding, gummy worms and gummy dinosaurs. In clear cups put crushed Oreo on the bottom then put in one dinosaur gummy. Next put in a layer of chocolate pudding, then a layer of vanilla. Put in a few gummy worms then sprinkle crushed Oreos on top so that it looks like dirt. The activity is simple: explain to the kids that we are going to dig for dinosaurs. Tell them that somewhere in their pudding is a dinosaur when they find it they get their Dinosaur Party Favor Pack.
A Dinosaur Cake Pan makes life much easier for us with little or no artistic flair ;-). Your other option is to bake a rectangualr cake and use these Dinosaurs edible Bakery Bites to decorate it.
