Invitations: If you are feeling adventurous you can make a floppy eared dog invite to announce your child’s party. Cut out a square, and then cut two dog-ear shapes out of black or brown paper. Place the square so that it looks like a diamond. Glue the dog-ears onto the diamond so that your dog has a snout at the bottom. Gut the top and side corners flat. Draw on the dogs face. Put the information for the party under the dog’s floppy ears.
Decoration Ideas Put fabric with Dalmatian spots on the furniture and use it as a tablecloth too. Get black and white balloons to go along with it. Make large dog tags out of tin foil and put them up on the walls along with leashes. Put out baskets of dog toys like Frisbees and tennis balls.
Craft Ideas Get those paper throwaway bowls and remove the lip that goes around the rim to make it look more like a doggy dish. Give the kids markers and let them decorate their dish. You can keep them to put their food in when its time to eat.
Get some face paints and pair the kids up. Let them decorate each other’s faces so that they look like dogs. (You will want to have a lot of adult supervision for this).
Game Ideas Puppies love to play tug of war, dig holes to get out of fences and create havoc and get into trouble. Let the kids pretend to be puppies by setting up some fun puppy activities. Get a rope for tug of war. Get a stick and play limbo (the puppies are crawling under the fence). Have a slipper fetching game hide old or borrowed slippers throughout the area and have the kids find them. If you can’t find enough slippers you can roll up newspapers and use that for them to fetch.
6-10 year olds: Doggy Tricks Charades Have different types of dog tricks (like roll over, play dead, speak, etc.) written or drawn if your kids can’t read, on a piece of paper. Have one kid at a time come and draw one then act it out to get the other kids to guess what it is.
Food Ideas Dog Bone Marshmallows are made by putting small marshmallows on a toothpick then a large marshmallow sideways on both ends. You can even write common dog names like Rover, and Fido with a food-coloring marker. Have dog food in doggy dishes (its really just those pretzel bits) and have Dalmatian pop (sprite with large black sprinkles in it). Above all - have FUN and don't forget to take lots of photos.
