"Who me?!" I hear you say. "Yes, you! The best parent in the whole wide world." The secret lies in the preparation. I'll tell you where to find some free or cheap magic tricks. You try them out and practice them before the party. Keep this a secret from your kid and amaze both him/her and the guests. It's easier than you might think. With clear guidelines and some practice you can pull this off.

- You and the birthday boy/girl do it
This can be a fun thing to do together!
Print out all the tricks that the above links lead to. Read through them and let your child choose the ones he/she would like to perform.
Then practice, practice, parctice until both of you can perform your tricks with confidence.
On the day of the party, dress like two magicians and put up your own magic show. Let your spouse take lots of photos.
- Let the kids themselves do it
Again, print out all the tricks. Send one trick per guest when you send out the invitations. Explain to them that there will be a magic trick competition at the party. They need to practice doing the trick and then perform it in the show. Have a prize for each contestant/magician.
