Puzzles are not only good for children though, they are especially effective at helping the adult brain stay alert and engaged. They can also be extremely beneficial to the elderly. If you are planning on having a party for National Puzzle day you may like to have a wide range of multi-player games available such as scrabble, where a tournament could even be arranged. Puzzles that require good spatial skills such Jenga or Kerplunk are always great fun for a large group to play. You can even have prizes for the winner. In the case of Kerplunk, for an added fun factor, why not try replacing the marbles with M&Ms or jelly beans? Word searches can be educational fun, especially if you are learning a second language. If, for example a group of children are learning Spanish, why not give them a Spanish word search, but with English clues, and offer a prize to the first person to complete it correctly? You could also have 'fastest first' prizes for completing jigsaw puzzles. You may even find it fun to create your own jigsaw puzzles on the computer, simply print out a favored photograph, mount on card and carefully cut into the desired pieces.
