Yes, a kid face painting kit will probably have better colors, but you and the kids will have as much fun (if not more!) using face paint that you've made.
Toddlers and first timers might be hesitant to have their faces painted - don't force them. Paint their hands and feet instead. Try painting something simple. How about a lady bug on a kid's fist!
You'll find face painting designs that will cover the entire face. Not many kids have the patience to sit still until this is finished. Remember that it's supposed to be fun and it won't be if they get impatient and you loose your temper because they are not sitting still. So, stick to simple designs that is quick to complete. Then everyone is happy. If the kids are old enough, they could paint each other's faces - now that's fun!
Home Made Face PaintMix 1/2 tsp cold cream and 1/2 tsp corn startch together until smooth. Add 1/2 tsp water and a drop of food coloring. Mix well and store in a baby food jar. This paint will easily wash off with water.Repeat this for each color.
