Perfect Pirate Party Ideas

Here is a selection of sensational pirate party ideas for you to use!

Invitations:

Make a treasure chest invite. You will need brown paper, a black marker, gold paper clips, glitter and glue. To make the card take an 81/2 by 11 piece of brown paper and cut it in half long way. Then fold the top and bottom into the center but make the top fold a bit smaller than the bottom (for the lid of the treasure chest). Decorate the outside with glitter to make it look like a treasure chest. Glue the paper clip to the top half of the chest so that you can use the paper clip as the latch on the treasure chest. Inside you can write all the information for the party.

Decoration Ideas
Decorate in red and black with balloons, streamers, and anything else you can think of. Find blow up parrots and put them around the party area. Get plastic swords, fake gold coins and other "booty" to put out. Add even more decoration with skull and crossbones flags and signs that say beware or other pirate sayings.

Find a large box and cut one corner so that you can lay it flat. Cover the box with blue fabric or paper for water. Attach fish to the box. Stand the box up using the lid flaps to keep it up. You will want to have it set up in a corner and have it folded slightly so the kids can’t see behind it. Put a blow up shark at the base.

Craft Ideas

Pirate Hat (2-6 year olds)

You can fold hats out of paper or buy some cheap pirate hats (you know the plastic kind). You should also get feathers, glue, jewels, and a package of construction paper. Help the kids decorate their hat by adding feathers, jewels and a colored band (out of construction paper). When their hat dries let them wear it throughout the party.

Buried Treasure Island (6-10 year olds)

You will need clear plastic bowls, sand, construction paper, small treasures that can be buried like pennies, small necklaces and jewels, glue, small rocks, potting soil, the plastic cups from jell-o and pudding packages (empty and washed) and one sunflower seed per child. Before the party, put a pudding cup in each of the bowls and fill it with potting soil. Pour sand into the plastic bowls around the pudding cup. At the party have the children bury treasure in their islands and then plant the sunflower seed. Have all of them water their sunflower seed. Let them decorate their islands with palm trees, and other plants made of paper and rocks. Tell the kids that in a few days a plant will start growing.

Game Ideas

Gone Fishing for Treasure (2-6 year olds)

Remember that ocean you made out of a box as a decoration, well hear it can double as a game. You will need to make a fishing pole out of a stick and some string. At the end of the string tie a paper clip. Make small goody bags and tie them shut with a ribbon. When the kids aren’t looking have someone go behind the box with the goody bags. Line the children up and have each of them go fishing. The person behind the box will attach a goody bag to the string then tug on the line so the kids know when to pull in their treasure.

Steal the Loot (6-10 year olds)

Have the children sit in a circle. Blindfold one child and have them sit in the middle of the circle. Put a treasure box filled with coins in front of them. One child is chosen from the circle to try and steal the loot without letting the blindfolded child hear them. The one with the blindfold on gets three chances to guess who stool the loot. When they guess who it was, that person is blindfolded and put in the middle and play continues.

Food Ideas

Corn dog swords are easy to make. Get a package of corn dogs, cook them, cut circles out of black paper. Push the black paper over the stick for the corn dog and you have corn dog swords.

Net fries this food idea is also simple to make and kids will love it with their corn dog swords. All you have to do is buy the frozen waffle style French fries and cook them as directed on the package. Put them in a bowl and add a few goldfish crackers.

Ruby punch is made by getting red punch and pouring it into ice cube trays the night before the party. Let them freeze, then put them in a clear bowl and add lemonade. Serve the punch in clear cups so the kids can see the rubies.

Remember to take losts of photos - this will be a great party to remember!
