Thinking of throwing a themed birthday party for your child, but don’t know what theme to choose? Why not try a teddy bear’s picnic. These parties are ideal for small children and involve having a picnic where all the children are also asking to take along their teddy bears.

Teddy bears picnics date back to the early 1900’s, and are a great way to celebrate your child’s birthday. In order for everything to be perfect however, there are a few things that you will need to organize in advance. The most important of these will probably be your invitations and you can have great fun doing your own. Choose invitations with teddy bears on them and on the inside you can add your own wording such as:

Come to my party today You’re in for a big surprise
Come to my party today And bring your teddy bear
We’re having a teddy bears picnic with lots of fun and games (insert date, time, and venue here)

The next thing that you will need to organize is the decorations. You can set up a cave area in the corner of your garden using rolls of brown paper. Next you will need to set up the picnic area and this should include blankets, picnic baskets and a tea party set. For the food you can use teddy bear shaped cutters to make teddy bear sandwiches, make a teddy bear cakes, and serve some teddy grahams.

Party games for a teddy bears picnic can include toss the bee into the honey pot, make a bear piñata and you can also have the children make bear ears that they can then wear as their party hats. If you intend to serve party bags you can fill them with items such as bear stickers and gummy bears.

All in all teddy bears picnic are a great way to give your small child the perfect birthday party.
